Ring Ring, Retirement calls my fellow seniors! As far as your retirement destinations go, or should we call it our elderly joy estate choices, Bali is definitely up there. I can confidently say that as I’ve experienced Bali myself. These gray hairs tells a story of the times I’ve trodden thousands of miles of both the smooth and the beaten paths, tramped across the globe and worn out a few passports, basically all the idioms I can think of that tells you that I have just the right tips you need as you journey across Bali’s finest hues of golden sands and azure colored waves. But it doesn’t end there, the sweet flavors of Bali’s traditional delights awaits your pink stage along with the savory history that fights for your full attention.
Kuta Beach: Where Bali is truly Alive
Kuta Beach is located in a strategic area where you will have easy access to most of the things you’d need. You’re hungry? All across the main streets are restaurants that don't focus only in Balinese foods, but also cuisines from other countries ranging from South Eastern countries all the way to American and European countries that may feed your home-sick feeling and wrap you up in the warmth and comfort of your home country’s delicacies. However, just to inform you, international foods in Bali are way more expensive ranging across Rp 60,000 - Rp 80,000 or $4-5 USD than local foods that normally range around Rp 25,000 - Rp 50,000 or $2-3 USD at most. Though, it would be quite a waste to come to Bali only to eat your home country’s foods instead of enriching yourselves in what brings about the smiles and satisfaction in almost all the expressions of the tourists that I came across. In the case where you choose to envelope your taste buds with Bali’s rich spices, you can always wash it down with a little Gelato ice cream you can find inside the shopping mall, restaurants, and their own stores that costs about Rp 25,000 to Rp 35,000 or $2-2.30 USD for one scoop.
Sanur Beach: Where the Golden Beach meets the Symphony of the Waves
Cycling across the smooth pavement, eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the cafes that lines up as long as the sidewalks go, going on a kayak alone or with your loved ones to appreciate the marine below, drinking coconut as you listen to the chatter of the birds, the dogs, and the people around you, are just a quarter of what you can do in Sanur. Stretching out 8 kilometers across the south-eastern coastline, Sanur beach offers numerous activities made for any age range, including us pensioners. Who says we can’t have fun? Well, our fun might not embody the idea of exerting energy in lively activities but it sure does incorporate relaxing on sunbeds, the sunlight kisses on our body, the never ending melodies of rough waves, and the cool breeze brushing past our gray hairs, battling against the ravaging temperature. Speaking of sunbeds, Sanur's crowd of seaside hotels provide free sunbeds for people who stay in their hotel, charged prices for people outside, and in some cases it can be free but you are required to buy food and beverages from the place first. With the amount of seaside hotels available, you can choose to your heart’s content where if your objective is to achieve peace and silence for the body and mind, you can choose a more secluded area and even though it would be far from the center, you still have access to food, beverages, health and safety aids as they would all be provided by the hotel that provides those sunbeds. To add to that, sunbeds in Sanur also come with sellers that sell massage services at a reasonable price. Picture yourself in the position of those 2 seniors in the image in which serenity and tranquility are plastered all over the mood and atmosphere alone.
