Here is a list of the terminology that we should have a good understanding of for this project.
The first time my teacher showed my class the list of magazine terminologies during class I was really surprised and overwhelmed that there were so much that I didn't know about and how each of these terminologies gives different effects to the readers. I didn't know of the existence of coverlines, bylines, thirds, and white space. However, when my teacher assigned the magazine research assignment, I slowly understood and recognized each of them as my research requires deep understanding of the terminologies and not only that, I researched 6 magazines, so because I repetitively used the terminologies, I eventually understood more and can connect the terminologies to media language and media representation. Because of this, I'm more able to analyze magazines in detail to add to my research now that I have the relevant terminologies to use which will help a lot in the making of my magazine project where I have to make sure I use effective and attractive coverlines, bylines, and layouts. However, because this is all still new to me, every now and then I still look back to the image above to make sure I'm using the right terminologies based on its functions.
